Waxing

Waxing is the process of hair removal from the root by using a covering of a sticky substance, such as wax, to adhere to body hair, and then removing this covering and pulling out the hair from the follicle. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for four to six weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different human hair growth cycle. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, pubic hair (called bikini waxing or intimate waxing), legs, arms, back, abdomen, chest, knuckles, and feet. There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair.

Is waxing good for your hair?

Waxing can cause inflamed hair follicles, pain, redness, ingrown hairs and skin irritation. Removing female facial hair while using retinoid anti-aging or acne products can lead to abrasions, infection and even scarring, so be sure to do your homework before trying a wax.

How long does hair need to be for a bikini wax?

You’ll get the best wax if you let the hair grow to about ¼ inch so the wax can fully adhere.

Should I shave or should I wax?

Although the results are fairly similar, there’s one key difference: how long they last. On average, waxing lasts around 3 or 4 weeks because the hair is removed at the root. Hair grows back much faster with shaving, though — within 3 days to a week. This is because shaving only removes the top layer of the hair.D

How often should I wax?

Typically it’s best to wait 2 to 5 weeks in between waxing depending on the part of the body. For face, underarms, and bikini areas, wax about every 2 to 3 weeks. Legs and arms can be stretched out to 3 to five weeks.

What are the pros and cons of waxing?
Pros: Temporarily removes hair at the root for an average of three weeks of smooth skin, which can range from two to six weeks depending on your hair type and thickness. Cons: Waxing requires some regrowth in order to be effective, as the wax needs at least a quarter-inch of stubble to adhere to.
How many waxes until hair stops growing?

Hairs can stop showing up after 8 months of treatment in areas where it grows naturally finer, as well as with people with fine hair. It’s just as common, however, for people to go through years of wax sessions before the hair stops growing for good.

Does waxing eventually stop hair growth?
No, waxing will not permanently remove hair. However, it will leave your skin hairless and smooth for a good, long while. It’s certainly going to last longer than the day or two you get from shaving because waxing removes hair from the root.
